Get to Know an ROI Recruiter: Tiffani Tartaglia

About Tiffani Tartaglia: She is a construction recruiter and division manager in the newly formed Resource Options branch located in Raynham, Massachusetts. Tiffani shares the importance of getting to know your recruiter through relationship building, taking on new opportunities, open communication and trusting the process.
Getting to know your recruiter and building a relationship with your recruiter helps you, as a job seeker, speed up the process and probability of finding an opportunity you love.
I am Tiffani Tartaglia and I have spent the last 4 and a half years working in the capacity of helping people find opportunities. In a way, some could say I am a tradesperson’s Match Maker.
Whether you are looking for a career change, a foot in the door or just a new opportunity, working with a recruiter helps. Recruiters have access to all kinds of job opportunities that the public does not.
I work with people of the trades. Not all trades, just carpenters, laborers and electricians, and help them find opportunities with large commercial contractors, smaller builders and developers. I help people with short- or long-term work. Sometimes even a forever home. The basis of my job is simple; I get to know you, the prospective hire. Once I know you, I find the right opportunity for you to shine.
When a recruiter calls you, whether it is for a short-or long-term opportunity, take a few minutes to connect. If you are not a fit for what he or she has going on at that moment, the recruiter will tell you and it doesn’t mean they won’t have one for the future. Keep communication open. Reach out a couple times a week or a couples times a month. Keep interest.
If you are a fit and they schedule a time to meet, take the opportunity. I get it, short-term work does not have much appeal right off the bat, but if you look deeper, you begin to see the bigger picture. Short-term work means, a door is being opened and an opportunity is being given. This is a chance for you to show your stuff and your name will be known.
Recruiters work fast. As mentioned, it is our job to know you; the prospective hire, as well as the companies we work with.  When meeting with a recruiter, he or she is programmed to think of all the possible right fits. So, when you leave their office they get you out to work within a couple days. Wait, no interviews? You got that right! Straight to the job site you go!
Remember that moment to shine, this is it. Your recruiter works through the day one jitters with you and be there as a third party if a need arises during your placement.
The moral of the story for job seekers is that it’s not only what you know, but who you know.  See past the recruiter stereotypes and make the best out of the chance they are giving you. Think of a recruiter as an inside man. So, the next time you pick up the phone and a recruiter is on the other end, give them a minute or two.
