- Perform tests and sampling of asbestos, building materials and various environmental media
- Assists with asbestos, mold, other IH surveys and abatement/remediation projects.
- Conducts work in support of and prepares Phase I Environmental Site Assessments in accordance with ASTM Standard 1527, Standard Practice for Environmental Site Assessments: Phase I Environmental Site Assessment Process to identify recognized environmental conditions and other conditions of environmental concern for a project and related off-site properties in accordance with ASTM.
- Tabulate and prepare data for written reports.?
- Adhere to strict safety standards.
- Independently performs non-routine field testing on a variety of projects.
- Calibrate field monitoring equipment such as PID or combustible gas indicator.
- Sample suspect asbestos-containing building materials in accordance with AHERA guidelines.
- Perform oversight and air monitoring during asbestos abatement projects.
- Perform complex monitoring and well sampling.
- For Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESA):
- Reviews previous assessment reports, historical and regulatory records for the property; reports data in accordance with ASTM criteria and/or client's scope of work.
- Conducts interviews with appropriate project stakeholders and government officials to obtain information concerning the environmental conditions related to the property and adjacent properties.
- Writes reports which accurately convey the environmental assessment and provide exhibits and photos which illustrate or clarify information presented in the body of the report.
- Obtains site access, public and private utility clearance, coordinates with various project stakeholders, and schedules drillers, laboratories, and other subcontractors for Phase II or Industrial Hygiene work.
- Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects.? Participate in pre-task planning.? Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
- Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology or related science field and 0-1 year relevant professional experience; or High school diploma or equivalent and minimum 6-8 years of relevant experience
- Certification in field of expertise including but not limited to:
- CT Asbestos Inspector
- CT Asbestos Project Monitor
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
Pay Range:
$25-$30/hr
