Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct air sampling and clearance testing for asbestos abatement projects in accordance with OSHA, EPA, and local environmental regulations.
- Monitor asbestos abatement work sites to ensure compliance with safety standards and protocols.
- Perform visual inspections of asbestos-containing materials (ACM) and maintain accurate documentation of findings.
- Collect air samples using proper equipment (e.g., pumps, cassettes, etc.) and ensure samples are properly labeled and submitted to accredited laboratories.
- Assist in the preparation of project documentation, including daily logs, reports, and compliance records.
- Collaborate with project managers and other team members to ensure work site safety and proper abatement procedures.
- Conduct background, personal exposure, and clearance sampling to assess asbestos exposure levels.
- Ensure all work practices meet the regulatory requirements for asbestos removal and handling.
- Provide project monitoring and oversight to ensure asbestos work is carried out according to scope and within regulatory guidelines.
- Maintain and calibrate air sampling equipment as required.
- Work in compliance with all company policies, safety protocols, and OSHA guidelines.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 1+ years of experience as an asbestos technician or in a related field (air sampling and project monitoring).
- Preferred Asbestos Supervisor or Inspector certification in New York City and New Jersey.
- Knowledge of asbestos regulations, including local, state, and federal guidelines (OSHA, EPA, and NYC/NJ-specific laws).
- Familiarity with asbestos abatement methods and safety procedures.
- Ability to handle and use sampling equipment (e.g., air pumps, cassettes, etc.) and interpret results.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Ability to work in hazardous environments and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Must be willing to travel to various job sites in NYC and NJ.
