Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Resident Engineer with a minimum of 10 years in transportation and infrastructure projects, including extensive work on New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) roadway projects. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in overseeing construction operations, ensuring contract compliance, managing field personnel, and liaising between contractors, consultants, and public agencies.
Key Responsibilities:

Serve as the on-site lead representing the client and/or consultant team on NJDOT roadway construction projects.

Ensure compliance with NJDOT specifications, standards, and procedures throughout the construction lifecycle.

Supervise construction inspection teams, monitor contractor activities, and ensure adherence to plans, specifications, schedules, and budgets.

Review and approve contractor submittals, change orders, RFIs, and work progress.

Coordinate with NJDOT, municipalities, utilities, and other stakeholders to resolve field issues and maintain project momentum.

Prepare and maintain daily inspection reports, field documentation, meeting minutes, and project correspondence.

Ensure safety protocols are enforced and project environmental compliance is maintained.

Facilitate progress meetings and prepare status reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.

Minimum of 10 years of experience in roadway/highway construction, with at least 5 years in a Resident Engineer or senior inspector role.

Direct experience working on NJDOT projects is required.

NJ PE License (Professional Engineer) preferred.

Certifications such as NICET Level IV in Transportation/Highway Construction or NJDOT TCC a plus.

Strong understanding of NJDOT construction standards, MUTCD, and applicable codes.

Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with construction management software (e.g., Primavera, Field Manager, or similar platforms).
