Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Survey Crew Chief to join a growing team in New York City. This individual will lead field operations for land surveying projects across a wide range of sectors, including infrastructure, real estate, and development. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable leading field crews while ensuring accuracy, safety, and efficiency on every project. Our client is a nationally recognized, multi-disciplinary engineering firm with a great culture and backlog of stable projects.
Responsibilities:

Help lead and supervise survey field crews on projects throughout the NYC area.

Operate and maintain surveying instruments, including GPS, robotic total stations, and data collectors.

Perform boundary, topographic, construction layout, and existing conditions projects.

Ensure accuracy of field data collection and oversee transfer of data to office staff.

Prepare daily field notes, sketches, and reports.

Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients regarding project scope and progress.

Promote safety standards and maintain compliance with city and company requirements.

Travel occasionally to project sites in surrounding states/cities as needed.
Qualification & Skills:

4+ years of land surveying field experience, with at least one year in a crew chief role.

Proficiency with modern surveying instruments and data collection software.

Strong knowledge of surveying principles, construction layout, and NYC field practices.

Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites across the city.

Flexibility for occasional overnight or out-of-state travel.

NYC field experience strongly preferred.
Pay Range: $32.00/hr. - $45.00/hr., plus overtime. Commensurate with experience.
