Job Description

As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repairs on a wide range of heavy equipment in our Roslindale shop and at various job sites. Equipment includes excavators, loaders, utility trucks, and dump trucks. This role requires hands-on experience with diesel engines and heavy equipment systems to effectively diagnose issues, determine necessary parts, and complete repairs in a timely and professional manner.

Essential Functions

  • Perform repairs and maintenance on brake, drivetrain, electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems

  • Troubleshoot issues related to diesel engines, emissions, electrical, and hydraulic systems

  • Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic information

  • Identify and determine appropriate parts, tools, and methods for each repair

  • Complete shop paperwork accurately and maintain service records

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

  • Travel to job sites as needed to perform field service repairs

  • Lift, move, and install heavy parts and equipment safely and efficiently

  • Perform repairs and maintenance in a timely and reliable manner

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Technical certification or post-secondary training in diesel or heavy equipment repair preferred

  • 3–5 years of experience in diesel and heavy equipment repair (minimum 3 years required)

  • Experience with Caterpillar equipment and diagnostic software preferred

  • Welding experience a plus

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail

  • Manual dexterity and physical stamina to perform demanding repair work

    Pay Range: $35.00 - $45.00/hr. (depending on experience)
