Job Description
Job Summary:
Operates equipment to reclaim mercury from various wastes including fluorescent lamp phosphor powder, mercury-containing devices, batteries, and other wastes.
Maintains and cleans equipment used to reclaim mercury.
Cleans area as required and completes all required paperwork on a daily basis.
Responsibilities:

Ability to manually lift boxes or containers of mercury-containing devices. Containers with weights of up to 50 pounds are common, with occasional weights of 75 pounds that may require manual lifting.

Ability to move drums and larger boxes using hand carts or pallet jacks.

Inspect recycling receptacles to ensure lamp components—glass, mercury-containing phosphor powder, and aluminum caps—are properly separated.

Sort MCMA according to the type of processing necessary.

Ability to operate equipment required to process/recycle MCMA and mercury-containing materials for retort.

Ability to perform basic maintenance of equipment during operation to assure it is in proper working order.

Report and communicate any mechanical problems with equipment.

Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE).

Complete daily inspection of the recycling unit.

Complete required paperwork to document work performed.
Qualifications

Must pass a physical examination, including a pre-employment drug screen. Must be physically capable of performing assigned tasks and able to tolerate a variety of environmental conditions.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules or standard operating procedures.

Previous experience in waste recycling is beneficial.

Mechanical aptitude is beneficial.

Basic knowledge of chemicals is beneficial
Pay Rate: $20.00/hr.
