Description:
We are seeking a Vapor Intrusion (VI) Mitigation System Installation Technician to support active environmental remediation projects. This role involves installing, modifying, and maintaining vapor intrusion mitigation systems designed to prevent hazardous vapors from entering buildings. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and experienced working in environmental or construction-based field settings.Responsibilities:
- Install vapor intrusion mitigation systems including sub-slab depressurization (SSD), sub-membrane depressurization (SMD), crawlspace, and building pressurization systems
- Install sub-slab piping, vent risers, discharge points, and passive/active mitigation components per approved designs
- Perform core drilling, slab trenching, saw cutting, and limited excavation while maintaining structural integrity
- Install vapor barriers, geomembranes, seals, boots, sumps, and penetration details per specifications
- Assemble PVC piping systems (typically 3”–6”), including cutting, solvent welding, supports, and labeling
- Assist with installation and wiring of mitigation fans under qualified supervision
- Seal cracks, joints, and utility penetrations to ensure proper system performance
- Assist with system startup, smoke testing, pressure field extension (PFE) testing, and verification
- Follow all project-specific health and safety plans and OSHA requirements
- Complete daily logs, photo documentation, and installation checklists
- Coordinate work with supervisors, consultants, and other trades
- Maintain organized work areas and support proper waste handling procedures
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- HAZWOPER 40-hour (or 8-hour refresher)
- 1–3+ years of experience in environmental remediation, radon mitigation, or construction/mechanical trades
- Familiarity with vapor intrusion or sub-slab depressurization systems preferred
- Ability to read and follow drawings, layouts, and specifications
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
