Responsibilities:
As an Asbestos Project Monitor, your expertise will be critical in ensuring projects are executed safely and in full compliance with regulatory standards. Your responsibilities will include:
- Perform asbestos inspections and regulated building material surveys
- Conduct air monitoring during asbestos abatement projects, including PCM sampling and clearance testing
- Collect bulk samples of suspect asbestos-containing materials in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Provide on-site oversight of abatement activities to ensure compliance with project specifications and health & safety protocols
- Maintain detailed field notes, logs, and daily reports documenting site activities and findings
- Coordinate with contractors, project managers, and clients to support successful project execution
- Review laboratory data and assist in preparing technical reports and clearance documentation
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and applicable state guidelines
- Calibrate and maintain air monitoring and sampling equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability
- Travel to project sites, working across commercial, industrial, and residential environments
Qualifications:
We’re seeking a motivated professional with strong technical expertise and attention to detail. Ideal candidates will have:
- Minimum of an Associate’s degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2+ years of experience in asbestos monitoring, industrial hygiene, or environmental consulting
- Active Asbestos Project Monitor license (required); additional certifications such as Inspector or Designer are a plus
- Strong knowledge of asbestos regulations and industry standards (OSHA, EPA, state-specific requirements)
- Experience with air sampling methods, clearance testing, and abatement oversight
- Ability to accurately document field activities and prepare clear, concise reports
- Proficiency with environmental sampling equipment, including air pumps and monitoring devices
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in fast-paced field environments
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites, including occasional overnight stays
Preferred Qualifications:
- Additional certifications in lead, mold, or hazardous materials
- Experience with a variety of building types (commercial, healthcare, industrial, residential)
- Familiarity with regulatory reporting and project documentation requirements
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (or willingness to obtain)
Pay Range: $60,000 – $85,000 annually
