His journey into recruiting started with his transition from a career in ticket sales to finding his passion for building relationships and connecting people with life-changing opportunities.
Christian credits ROI’s personal, welcoming culture for drawing him in and making him feel at home. In his own words, the rewarding nature of recruiting lies in its ability to create outcomes that benefit both clients and candidates—a stark contrast to the transactional nature of sales.
Whether he’s helping candidates find their perfect fit or motivating himself with the vision of his future self, Christian’s commitment to making a difference shines through. Dive in to learn more!
What initially drew you to the recruiting field, and how did you get started ROI?
I started my career in ticket sales, which was quite different from recruiting. One of the recruiters here at ROI, Sam Stone, reached out to me and explained what recruiting was all about—I had no idea at the time. After speaking with a few people at ROI, I loved the culture and the opportunity it offered. What really drew me to recruiting was the chance to build meaningful relationships. Unlike my previous sales experience, which was more transactional, recruiting feels so much more rewarding. It’s fulfilling to connect with different people and create outcomes that are mutually beneficial for both our candidates and clients.
How do you stay motivated and maintain a high level of performance in your role?
Knowing that I am working for others—both the clients and my candidates—drives me to stay motivated and put in my best effort. Acknowledging that the work I’m doing now will pay off in the long run keeps me focused and prevents complacency. Most importantly, my candidates inspire me; I’m passionate about helping them find roles they can be proud of and succeed in. Hearing their diverse stories and backgrounds makes the process deeply rewarding, and there’s nothing better than connecting people with opportunities that truly make a difference in their lives.
What has been your proudest moment helping a candidate or client since joining ROI?
A moment came to mind when thinking about this question. One of our candidates has been bouncing around between companies for a couple of months with no luck. Although we still haven’t found them the right fit yet, they shared how much they appreciated the effort we’ve put into finding opportunities for them. Even though this particular journey hasn’t been a complete success yet, we’re committed to supporting them and continuing to find the right fit—something that truly aligns with their goals. Success might take time, but we’re here every step of the way!
What makes ROI different than other staffing firms?
I’m new to the industry, but what I’ve learned here is that our local roots allows us to truly invest time in building relationships with candidates. We meet face-to-face and take the time to understand them as individuals, rather than rushing them through a standardized process just to maximize profit. We genuinely care about our candidates and prioritize getting to know them on a deeper level.
What is the best career advice you have ever received?
Not sure where I heard this, but it stuck with me: Never stop chasing the person you want to be five years from now. Avoid complacency, set meaningful goals, and keep striving to represent your best self for the future. Keep working, keep growing, and always move in the right direction.
