Spark Your Environmental Career with an Occupational Safety and Health Administration OSHA 40 HAZWOPER Certification

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 40 HAZWOPER certification is a must have for someone trying to enter the environmental industry and obtain a health and safety career, a field scientist career, heavy equipment operator career, or an environmental engineer career.
The environmental industry is growing at a fast pace. Legislation and communities continue to work together to clean up environmentally contaminated sites all around the world. These sites are dealing with contaminated soil, water and air; thus requiring contractors to clean up the mess to keep communities healthy and safe for years to come.
Contractors need good reliable workers in order to complete their projects on time and to successfully remove contained material to restore the earth to its original form. The demand for this is only going to become more and more frequent thus creating the need for Occupational Safety and Health Administration OSHA 40 Technicians.
Many people are unaware of what an Occupational Safety and Health Administration OSHA 40 HAZWOPER certification can do for an environmental career. An Occupational Safety and Health Administration OSHA 40 HAZWOPER certification has been proven to open new doors and allow people to start new health and safety careers, a field scientist career, heavy equipment operator career, or an environmental engineer career.
For example, in June 2016 I spoke with a candidate by the name of Everett Barnes about environmental opportunities at Resource Options. The day of Everett’s interview, he took the commuter rail to Needham, MA and then sprinted to our interview which was over a mile away just to make it in on time. After realizing his work ethic, we placed him through one of our Occupational Safety and Health Administration OSHA 40 classes.
At ROI, we offer a free Occupational Safety and Health Administration OSHA 40 training class every couple of months to a group of 8 –15 individuals who are interested in the certification and working for ROI.
Previously, Everett had been working for a moving company which was only using him on an on call basis. Now 2.5 years into our working relationship, Everett has worked on many large decontamination projects such as decontaminating laboratories at many of Massachusetts’ hospitals and universities. He has also decontaminated shooting ranges, waste water systems and air ducts. Everett is currently in the process of being hired permanently by one of our biggest clients in Boston.
His story is one example of how obtaining an Occupational Safety and Health Administration OSHA 40 HAZWOPER certification leads to a successful and long career.
